Homeschooler Mondays 2012-2013

Join our education staff for an hour of self-directed learning in our galleries followed by an hour-long school program, and then we open up our atrium for homeschooled families to eat their lunches and visit.

We recognize that homeschooled families often have children of a variety of ages, so each Homeschooler Monday we will offer a primary program for grades K-3, and an intermediate program for grades 4-7 simultaneously.

We ask that parents of multi-child families attend the program with their youngest child.  Children who are too young to register for a program may accompany parents at no charge.

Registration is completed on a first come-first served basis. We strongly suggest pre-registering, as we cannot guarantee that there will still be space in the programs, and pre-registration helps our staff plan for equipment and supplies. Registration is limited to 24 children in the primary program, and 30 in the intermediate program.

Fees are $4/child for Museum members and $5/child for non-members. There is no charge for parent/guardian chaperones attending the programs with their children.

*The Extreme Space program has been cancelled.  In its place, we will test out our new Waterways and Pollution School Program!  Because of this change, we will not charge for intermediate homeschooler participation in October.

Primary programs are geared towards grades K-3, and intermediate programs are geared towards grades 4-7.

2012-2013 Daily Schedule:

10:00 -11:00 - Registration, sign-in, free time in galleries
11:00 -12:00* - Instructor led programs
12:00 -1:00 -  Atrium available for lunches, visiting

*Due to potentially smaller group sizes, programs may end slightly earlier than 12pm in some cases.
