Symbiosis STEAM Ecosystem

SYMBIOSIS

STEAM ECOSYSTEM

Science World and other core partners are working together to develop Symbiosis, Canada's first province-wide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, Math) learning ecosystem.

Symbiosis is a STEAM Learning Ecosystem. A STEAM learning ecosystem is a network of diverse collaborators across education, technology, science, the arts, and business sectors, working together to ensure all learners have equal access to educational opportunities.

British Columbia is a large place with diverse populations, to combat this Symbiosis currently has three regional hubs: Vancouver, Victoria and the Central Interior. The Exploration Place is the backbone organization for the Central Interior Regional Hub.

The Need
Our world is changing at a pace we’ve never known before. 2/3 of jobs that today’s youth will enter do not yet exist, and almost all of those jobs will require high levels of understanding in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and design, and math).
Many young people are being left behind, especially those in rural and under-reached communities. Failing to prepare the next generation to be STEAM literate threatens the health of our youth, the economy, and the places we live.

Symbiosis was created to provide every learner in BC with personalized STEAM-learning experiences by 2024.

Mission
To increase STEAM Literacy by connecting, growing and unleashing the power of BC’s STEAM Ecosystem.

Vision
Within five years, Symbiosis will be available to every learner in BC

STAY TUNED! This webpage will provide a collection of free online resources for parents, students and teachers to use from the comfort of their own home.
