A New Natural History Gallery

On May 17, 2012, we opened our first new gallery at The Exploration Place since we re-opened in 2001; the Biome is a brand new home for our most unusual (and most popular) members of our team; those who sport exoskeletons and those who eat mice!

With an interactive floor, a revamped Nature Exchange, Wenzscope, and more!  In this new, permanent gallery, exploring life in all of its many forms, adds some 2,000 square feet of exhibit area to the Museum.

Meet our animal ambassadors like Loki the Magpie, Sandy the Bearded Dragon and Rio the Ball Python.  Our team of Brain Builders is looking forward to meeting visitors of all ages.

Meet, Greet and See What the Critters Like To Eat:

Early Morning Critter Meeting - Get up close and personal with our resident critters in the Biome

2-3 pm - Come to the Biome to learn about some of our critters and see what they like to eat.

Please feel free to ask one of our gallery interpreters about science demos & critter meet-ups throughout the day.

When the critters are not eating or visiting with museum guests, our critters are getting their valuable beauty rest.

Please note that demonstrations in our Atrium are free. Regular admission rates apply for gallery entrance which includes the Biome. For details about memberships and drop-in rates please go to:
