Lifting the Weight with Hydraulics
Target Learners: Grades 4-12
Step into the world of hydraulic engineering with this engaging workshop. Designed specifically for kids, this interactive activity provides an exciting opportunity for young minds to explore the principles of water-based hydraulics while discovering the environmental benefits associated with this innovative technology.
In this 50 to 60-minute workshop, children will be divided into groups of 2-4, fostering teamwork and collaboration. Armed with pre-cut wood pieces, elastic bands, and a variety of raw materials, participants will embark on a creative journey to build their very own lifting machines. Guided by our experienced museum staff, kids will gain hands-on experience in designing, constructing, and operating hydraulic systems.
By the end of the workshop, each group will have a fully functional lifting machine that they’ve built from scratch. “Lifting the Weight with Hydraulics” is not just a workshop; it’s an immersive experience that combines education, teamwork, and creativity to inspire the engineers of tomorrow. Join us for a memorable journey into the fascinating world of hydraulic engineering!
