NEW VIDEO GAME EXHIBIT COMING TO THE EXPLORATION PLACE

PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Exploration Place is bringing the evolution of video games to life with Game Changers, a highly interactive exhibition that explores how technology, creativity, and innovation have shaped the gaming experiences we know today.

Developed and produced by the Canada Science and Technology Museum and toured by Science North, Game Changers takes visitors on a hands-on journey from early arcade games like Pong to today’s immersive, photorealistic digital worlds. Through motion-sensing technology, audio design, and tactile interactives, visitors are invited to actively engage with the exhibition rather than simply observe it.

Spanning approximately 3,000 square feet, the exhibition features more than 120 influential games and 16 playable experiences, including iconic titles such as Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., Guitar Hero, Tetris, and Angry Birds. Visitors can operate a supersized Nintendo controller, race on a giant Game Boy, test their retro gaming knowledge, and explore original concept art, storyboards, and level designs created by Canadian video game developers.

Designed for gamers and non-gamers alike, Game Changers examines the science and technology behind gameplay, graphics, sound, and storytelling, offering insight into how video games have transformed the way people interact with computers and digital media.

The exhibition is fun for all ages and encourages families to play together, sparking conversations about creativity, problem-solving, and the role of technology in everyday life.

“We’re excited to bring Game Changers to Prince George,” says Alyssa Gerwing, Curator at The Exploration Place. “This is an exhibition that bridges generations through a common interest. Adults can revisit the games they grew up playing and share those memories with their kids, while also discovering what today’s gamers are playing. It’s a hands-on experience where visitors of all ages can have a lot of fun and learn at the same time.”

Game Changers will open on January 26th and run until April 15th. After-hours birthday party experiences are also available.
