All Birthday Parties Include:

Private party room
The option to add 20-30 minutes of a fun, hands-on interactive science program
Admission to The Exploration Place exhibits and galleries for you and your guests
Cupcakes for each attendee. Extra cupcakes can be purchased for $4.50/each
A free return pass to The Exploration Place for each child attending your party

General Information

Bookings are limited and will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking
Full payment is due on the party day
Party offerings and costs are subject to change without notice
All party packages are for a maximum of 15 children. You may add up to 5 additional children for $10/child
We will ask you to confirm your party attendance numbers two weeks before the party date
A minimum of 1 adult (18+) must attend the party

Cancellation / Refund Policy
Cancellations received 14 days or more prior to the birthday party date are refundable less the 50% deposit. There are no refunds for cancellations with less than 14 days’ notice.

During business hours

11:30am – 1:30pm
2:30pm – 4:30pm

Friday: $500

Private, after-hours

5:30pm – 7:30pm

Parties are for up to 15 children. You may add up to 5 additional children for $10/child
Adults may attend free with their children
A program can be added for an additional $50
All prices are subject to GST

Our Policies

You may bring your own food and cake. Birthday cupcakes are included in your package
For evening parties, we open and close for birthdays at the exact rented start time. Our guarantee is to have the facility available and birthday ready at exactly the start time and no later

Birthday staff will:

Introduce the host(s) to the museum and go over basic rules
If applicable, check what time the party would like to have the program begin (beginning, middle, or end of party)
Perform the presentation
Clean up (guests are responsible for their own belongings, but all garbage/disposables/mess is the responsibility of The Exploration Place staff)

Party FAQs

“Do you provide loot/goodie bags?”

We do not provide goodie bags. However, should you choose to provide goodie bags, please feel free to include the free children’s gallery passes, which we supply to each child attending the party.

“Can I bring my own cake and party food?”

Yes, you can! Cupcakes are included with your birthday party package.

“Are sparklers or candles allowed?”

Sparklers are not permitted to keep our animals, plants, and artifacts safe. A single candle or one numbered candle is permitted.

“Can I bring decorations?”

Yes, you can!

“Can I have more than 15 kids and 15 adults at my party?”

You may include up to 5 additional children for a surcharge of $10/child. Adults may attend free with their child.

“Is there a private party room?”

A section of the Gaia Gallery will be reserved just for you and your guests during your two-hour party. You’ll also have full access to explore the museum galleries throughout your celebration.

“Can we stay longer?”

For daytime parties, your area in the Gaia Gallery will be reserved for you for two hours. After two hours, you are welcome to enjoy the rest of the museum galleries at your leisure. Evening birthday parties are scheduled when staff are available, so for this reason, we cannot allow you to stay longer than your scheduled time during an evening party.

“Who is responsible for the children during the party?”

Our team is available to lead the hands-on, planned activities, and may assist you during the party, but you are responsible for moderating the behaviour of your guests and the whereabouts of the children at all times, especially when they explore the galleries.

“Do I need to clean up afterward?”

Leave the preparation and clean up to us! Relax, and enjoy the party with your child and guests.
