School Programs
- All school visits during the 2023-2024 school year are offered free of charge to schools in Northern BC, thanks to our generous sponsor, Drax Foundation.
- In order to access free school visits or programming, your school must be classified as a school by the BC Ministry of Education.
- Pre-booking is required for all school visits. Payment for school visits may be paid in advance or made on the day of your visit.
- Please book your field trip at least two weeks in advance and at least 6 weeks in advance during May and June. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Cancellation without penalty is permitted more than 3 weeks in advance of your scheduled program. If cancellation occurs less than 3 weeks in advance of your scheduled program, a cancellation fee equivalent to the cost of your program will apply.
- Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before your program is scheduled to begin. Out of respect for the group arriving after you, we are unable to extend the programming time for groups arriving late.
- Consider a pre-visit to The Exploration Place. This can help you in planning your field trip and is free upon presentation of your Ministry of Education Teacher Card.
- Organize your students into groups, each with an assigned adult supervisor, before you arrive at The Exploration Place
- Review behaviour expectations for the field trip with your students and supervisors
- The Exploration Place is an extension of your classroom, and teacher supervision is required at all times. We also require additional adult supervisors.
- Supervisors are responsible for classroom management and behaviour guidance and must remain with their students at all times.
- Failure to provide required number of supervisors will result in a fee of $50 per supervisor under the required ratio.
- Failure to adequately supervise your group may result in the group being asked to leave the Museum.
