Educational Programs
An amazing learning experience for your students
We are excited to offer school field trips and programs to Northern BC schools FREE of charge for the 2023-24 school year, thanks to our generous supporters at the Drax Foundation.

Field Trip
Packages
Plan ahead! Field trips must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance and at least 6 weeks in advance during May and June. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

EXPLORAMA
Take your students on a field trip they won’t forget!
FREE of charge for Northern BC schools. Must be classified as a school by the BC Ministry of Education
- $6.00 per elementary student (min. 20)
- $7.50 per secondary student (min. 15)
- $10.00 per post-secondary student (min. 10)
Adult supervisors
- Free up to required ratio
- $9.00 per extra supervisor over the required ratio
- A fee will be charged for each required supervisor not in attendance (see ratios below)
90 minutes in galleries
- Semi-guided tour with a gallery staff member
- Self-directed discovery in our galleries
- No outside food permitted. Catered lunch from Origins Kitchen is available. Catering fees will apply.

School Program: Ozobot Dance-Off
Students use block-based coding to design a dance for a teeny-tiny robot. In pairs, students will learn the basics of coding and robotics.
School Program: Robot Mice
Students are introduced to coding through offline prompts. In small teams, students program a robot to execute a series of commands.
School Program: Nature Exchange
Students are encouraged to explore the natural world around them through a trading process. Students investigate nature around them, whether it be in their backyard or around their community, and record their findings in a nature journal.

Coding for the Climate will encourage students to consider some causes & effects of climate change, while working collaboratively with each other and technology.

Coding Workshops
Through Tech-Up, The Exploration Place and Science World deliver province-wide programs for students and teachers that include coding, computational thinking, and digital skills.
Our reservable free in-person and online programs are designed by education specialists and reflect British Columbia’s transformed curriculum. Each program provides content enrichment for a “Big Idea” and opportunities to exercise and extend students’ core competencies.
These programs are part of Tech-Up, Science World’s initiative to enhance existing programs to include coding and computational thinking.

Looking for a way to bring fun, easy-to-use coding lessons into your class? In partnership with Science World, The Exploration Place is offering FREE coding-based Tech-Up Kits for classes in Prince George.
Thanks to our sponsors, our Tech-Up Kits are free to book. We’re looking for teachers or schools who are interested in borrowing a kit for 1-2 week intervals.
