The Exploration Place intends to portray an inclusive history of Prince George. This involves depicting life during the early settler days in Prince George, the impact that diverse groups of post-contact settlers had on Indigenous communities and the landscape, and how this has shaped our region socially, culturally, and environmentally.

The Curatorial Statement of Intent of the Fraser-Fort George Museum Society:

People travel from all over the world to this region to experience one of the last true wilderness environments. The philosophical basis of the Museum’s exhibitions and collections development is rooted in the forest landscape and ecosystem. Human economic activities and social history has, and will continue to be, shaped by a rich and challenging forest environment. Unlike museums in long established communities where the landscape has been entirely altered or erased, this museum must address local history, culture, science, and technology contextualized within the natural setting.

The Exploration Place intends to portray an inclusive history of Prince George. This involves depicting life during the earliest pioneer days in Prince George, the impact that diverse groups of post-contact settlers had on Indigenous communities and the landscape, and how this has shaped our region socially, culturally, and environmentally.
